Because Clearly What Kenya Needs Right Now… Is a Church at State House

Every day, Kenyans wake up to fresh madness from this government — and just when you think they’ve hit rock bottom, they start digging. The latest absurdity? A plan to build a church within the State House grounds using KSh 1.2 billion of public money.

Let’s be clear: Kenya is a secular state. The constitution is unambiguous about that. But President Ruto — or “Zakayo,” as the people aptly call him — continues to treat the law like a suggestion, not a binding contract with the citizens of this country.

How does building a church in the President’s backyard help the millions of Kenyans struggling to survive? Our public schools are collapsing. Hospitals are on life support. Healthcare workers are on the streets demanding better pay. Businesses are shuttering. The cost of living is unbearable. But instead of addressing any of that, we’re being told a church at State House is a national priority?

No, Mr. President — it’s not. It’s unconstitutional, it’s discriminatory, and it’s a slap in the face to every Kenyan who doesn’t subscribe to your personal religious beliefs. There are over 10 churches within 2km of State House. Thousands in Nairobi. Tens of thousands in Kenya. If that’s not enough for you, buy land and build your own church — with your own money.

Let’s stop the hypocrisy. You used religion to climb to power, and now you’re using public land and public funds to tighten your grip on it. We see right through it.

We demand respect for the constitution. We demand responsible leadership. We demand that this government stop using faith as a smokescreen for corruption, exclusion, and failure.
